The CV-12 is a large diaphragm tube-based condenser mic, designed to perform like the world-famous European tube mics of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Avantone CR14 Vintage Ribbon Microphone

Traditional moving coil drivers use a magnetic field to push/pull the driver in one direction and rely on the surround’s elasticity to return the driver to the neutral position. Planar drivers utilize a technology that mixes principles between dynamic and electrostatic drivers — they are constructed by a precise array of magnets that are evenly spaced across both sides of a thin, ultralight diaphragm.

Due to the nature of this magnetic field’s precision, force applied to the membrane is distributed in a symmetric fashion which produces a signal with very little harmonic distortion, and incredibly fast response times. And because Planars use front and rear magnets to apply equal forces in both directions, there is far less weight applied to the driver material, which results in a much more natural sound with less distortion — allowing for hours of fatigue-less listening.

Avantone Pro CK6PLUS Large Capsule Cardioid FET Condenser Microphone

The workhorse of Avantone’s visually unmistakable Cabernet and Nickle finished “ C-series” mics. The Ck-6 Classic utilizes a large (30mm) diaphragm and transformer-less condenser circuit for accurate, colorless sound reproduction. A cardioid polar pattern helps the CK-1 focus on the objective, producing a clean sonic signature that resists bleed through. An Independently switchable 80Hz high-pass filter can be engaged to further abate low frequency rumble.

The CK-6 Classic is a multi-purpose mic: sensitive enough for use on vocal tracks and acoustic instruments, and strong enough to handle high volume amplified instruments (like an electric guitar cabinet). A -10dB attenuation switch can be engaged when miking very high SPL sources to keep from overloading the electronics.

The CK-6 Classic touts a solid low end, full midrange, and smooth, airy highs-all traits of top-quality pro-level FET-style large diaphragm condenser mics. The Avantone Pro CLA-400 Studio Reference Amplifier is a dynamic, high output, high resolution, full-range system built the old school way; a classically designed Class A/B amplifier. We took particular care to create an amplifier in the traditional studio style, with generous VU meters, high quality Japanese components and a serious toroidal transformer linear power supply. Planar drivers offer an incredible set of advantages over traditional moving coil drivers. Amazing accuracy, high-end detail, clarity, natural bass and response time.

Traditional moving coil drivers use a magnetic field to push/pull the driver in one direction and rely on the surround’s elasticity to return the driver to the neutral position. Planar drivers utilize a technology that mixes principles between dynamic and electrostatic drivers — they are constructed by a precise array of magnets that are evenly spaced across both sides of a thin, ultralight diaphragm.

Due to the nature of this magnetic field’s precision, force applied to the membrane is distributed in a symmetric fashion which produces a signal with very little harmonic distortion, and incredibly fast response times. And because Planars use front and rear magnets to apply equal forces in both directions, there is far less weight applied to the driver material, which results in a much more natural sound with less distortion — allowing for hours of fatigue-less listening.

Avantone’s Planar headphones also employ an open back design, with a perfectly tuned chamber that results in a very flat-frequency environment, without the typical pressure build-up, acoustic resonance, and frequency curve of closed back headphones. The result is an audiophile listening experience that can even be enjoyed portably!
