Solid State Logic THE BUS+ – Analog Bus Compressor
If there is a single piece of analogue processing equipment that is synonymous with SSL, it is the SSL Bus Compressor. From the first SSL 4000B console in 1976 through every generation that followed, the Bus Compressor has remained the trusted centerpiece of SSL consoles. For top engineers and producers worldwide, it is the most relied-upon tool for making mixes sound bigger, more cohesive, and more energetic—delivering the legendary SSL glue and punch.
SSL set out to create the ultimate version of this iconic processor, and THE BUS+ is the most versatile incarnation ever made. Built on the foundation of the original circuit, it adds multiple unique coloration options and advanced processing tools. It can deliver clean, punchy compression like the SuperAnalogue™ 9000 Series, gritty 4000E-style character, or aggressive saturated parallel compression for drums—THE BUS+ handles it all.
The design uses premium components including 2181 THAT VCAs, four operating modes, and three distinct compression color options that can be blended to fit any genre. Powerful routing and processing enhancements include a Dynamic Analog EQ (D-EQ), Transient Expander, and more.
Innovation
To complement the expanded feature set, SSL added improvements for technical precision and recallability. Every control pot is stepped and scanned by a microcontroller that translates its position into exact circuit parameters. This eliminates pot tolerances and makes recall effortless—ideal for mastering applications.
Dynamic Analogue Equaliser (D-EQ)
THE BUS+ includes SSL’s first-ever Dynamic Analogue EQ, a versatile 2-band Dynamic EQ that can be placed before or after the Bus Compressor. Dynamic EQs adjust EQ gain based on signal level above a threshold, making them extremely effective for controlling contrast between background elements and forward-moving material.
The D-EQ offers:
Two parallel dynamic EQ bands
16 selectable frequencies per band
Switchable HF shelf-to-bell operation
Compression or expansion per band (31-position stepped control)
It enhances the top and bottom end of your mix smoothly and musically, making it the perfect companion to the Bus Compressor.
Advanced Processing Tools
Alongside the classic SSL Bus Compressor, THE BUS+ adds several sophisticated tools:
Compression Color Modes
LOW THD Mode – Reduces low-frequency distortion, cleans up bottom end.
F/B Mode (Feed-Back) – Creates a more relaxed, vintage compression feel.
4K Mode – Introduces harmonic distortion and unbalanced VCA behavior for classic 4000-series character with adjustable grit.
Transient Expander (Unlockable)
Adds controlled attack and impact without harshness.

Allen & Heath AHM-64-AEC-A 64x64 Audio Matrix Processor
Acoustic Echo Cancellation
The Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) module for AHM-64 provides 12 channels of AEC and is designed for teleconferencing and videoconferencing applications.
The AEC processors are assigned using channel inserts in the AHM. One insert sits in the far-end input channel, and the other in the near-end input channel. A sound reinforcement output is also provided for cases where local voice reinforcement is required.
Software – The AEC User Interface
All AEC parameters are easily accessible via AHM System Manager’s clear and intuitive interface, making it simple to dial in the optimal settings for teleconferencing and videoconferencing.
The Need for AEC
With remote attendance of meetings and conferences becoming increasingly common, high-quality audio is critical to ensure intelligibility for all attendees.
Remote participants often experience distracting echoes—caused by their voice being played over speakers in the conference room, picked up by multiple microphones, and broadcast back to the caller—which can seriously impede clarity and disrupt the flow of communication.
Allen & Heath’s Acoustic Echo Cancellation intelligently detects the “echo” in the remote participant’s feed, plus any residual effects caused by room acoustics, and utilises dedicated hardware processing to minimise the unwanted audio.
The result? A clearer, more comfortable listening experience for everyone in the meeting.
Features
12 Channels of AEC
150ms FIR Adaptive Filter
Far-End AGC (Automatic Gain Control)
Residual Echo NLP (Non-Linear Processing)
