But the whole point of the FA 125.4 form factor is that you can put 250 watts of power under a conference table, on the wall behind a big screen monitor, or in a kiosk. So we designed FA for high efficiency (less heat creation) AND ensured that the FA fans are whisper quiet with an unobstructed air flow between fan and output.

Another way the FAs keep a cool head is by powering down when not needed. Realistically, many installations experience several hours of down-time (such as overnight or perhaps on weekends when facilities are closed). Of course, all that gear sitting idle for all that time can cause undue stress on electronics (not to mention your wallet due to excess energy consumption).

FA’s Auto/On off feature places the amplifier in “sleep” mode after 30 minutes of no audio input signal, and wakes instantaneously when input signal is present. While in sleep mode, the FAs draw very little current and therefore not only save on electricity cost but also generate virtually no heat. Aside from the obvious convenience, it also reduces the need for additional HVAC or external power control equipment. This reduction in heat also helps to lengthen the life-span of electronic components that would normally remain on for hours, even when not in use.

Multi-mode operation with switchable Low Z (4/8 Ohms) or Hi Z (70/100V) selectable per channel lets you mix and match speaker types as needed. 1/2RU models offer convenient power-sharing technology that balances power between channels to meet different load requirements and also feature 25V operation. This allows two channels of the FA amplifier to deliver different loads by trading power.

The FA’s “under-the-hood” DSP keeps things under control without having to even think about it. An 80Hz High-Pass Filter kicks in whenever a channel is switched to Hi-Z mode to reduce excessive bass.

Also, a Clip Limiter is activated in Hi-Z mode to prevent loud transients from overdriving the amplifier. Both of these DSP functions help prevent an potentially damaging signals from damaging smaller speakers. A USB port allows for future DSP updates.

Connecting and controlling an amplifier for networked systems has now been simplified with Ashly’s NE Series amplifiers. Network Enabled (NE) amplifiers offer ease of use, setup and control using standard 10/100 Ethernet protocol and Protea NE Software. No special outboard control units are needed.

Four channel model with output power at 250W are available to fill a wide variety of low impedance, 25V, 70V and 100V performance installation or constant voltage applications. NE Series amplifiers are offered two ways; standard input with euroblock connectors and “pe” (Protea Enabled) with euroblock input connectors and world renowned Protea DSP signal process-

ing.

The DSP signal processing library is extensive and utilizes two SHARC 32-bit/96kHz processors. Processing blocks include Graphic, Parametric, Notch and Shelving Equalization, High-, Low- and All-Pass Filters (HPF/LPF/APF) with up to 48dB/Octave slopes, Delay, Compressor/Limiter, Gate, Ducking, Auto-leveler, Gain and Signal Generators (sinewave, white and pink noise). A full Matrix Mixer with assignable routing allows any input to drive any or all amplifier outputs. Presets can be used to store and retrieve global parameters of an entire amplifier’s control surface and DSP section.

Additionally, each amplifier also provides DC voltage control of the attenuators which makes it a snap to control volume from remote locations, preset recall, Remote Power Standby and data in and out ports for connecting accessories like the WR-5 to control user selected parameters. There are LED indicators for power, standby, protect, network communications and each channel has a four-step signal meter, bridge mono, temperature and current indicators.

A lot of smaller wall mount speakers in distributed systems never get to challenging sound levels.

We assumed that would be the case with our popular AW 8.2T and AW 5.2T.  But their sound quality is so good and their dispersion so complete that they were getting cranked up in bars, brew houses and clubs where mid-level SPLs from a distributed system came in handy.

So we redesigned the AW 8.2T and AW 5.2T  into the new AW 8.2T+ and AW 5.2T+ with beefier transformers. Nobody talks much about the transformers inside their 70-100V speakers (they’re hidden and they are “background” speakers after all). We are proud to.

For this type of speaker, music and speech are equally important. Both rely on a large “sweet spot” and off-axis intelligibility. Many speakers strive only for ON-axis frequency response and pay too little attention to OFF-axis system response. 

Directivity Optimization, a new, proprietary approach to crossover design, significantly improves vertical axis response. More listeners on the extreme left and right can hear the spoken word better. Music in a restaurant or bar is more immersive and less directional. DOC avoids the lock-step “studio monitor” configuration that is less than optimal for longer-throw applications and creates a noticeably wider sweet spot that is perfect for speech throughout a room, patio or bar area.

The IS Series are slim column array speakers designed to deliver high-quality speech and music in venues that require high intelligibility, low physical profile and wide, yet consistent coverage. Their durable all metal enclosures will withstand the rigors of portable use, as well as installation and an impedance switch (8Ω/32Ω) allows use for both 2/4 speaker or multiple speakers per channel (i.e.-distributed) configurations, without loading down the amplifier and without the need for transformers. The MX-406 is a rack-mountable six-input, stereo mic/line mixer designed to be used in fixed or portable installations. Each input will accept either microphone or line-level signals. If microphones are used, a -20dB pad switch is available. The microphone input has an ultra low-noise studio-grade mic preamp with up to 60dB of mic preamp gain. A three-position switch allowing you to set input gain for -20, -40 and -60dB is located on the front panel.

Each input has bass and treble shelving filters with individual control of each filter. An Aux Send on each input can be internally assigned pre or post level/EQ. Level and pan controls complete each input.

For even faster set-ups and stronger visualization of Input/Output routing, EQ, and Filter curves, two USB (one on the front and one on the rear panel) and RS-232 port is provided for use with Ashly's control software (Protea Software Suite) and a PC. A six foot USB-A to USB-B cable is provided. Advantages of using the software include greater preset capacity, and a very intuitive visual representation of the audio routing and control process.

The Protea 3.6SP utilizes state of the art DSP technologies, beginning with 24 bit, 48kHz delta-sigma A/D converters with 128x oversampling. Digital processing includes Gain, Polarity Invert, Parametric EQ, Shelving Filters, Time Delay, Crossover Functions, Compression, Limiting, and Signal Routing, all taking place in twin 120MHz high performance DSP processors. D/A conversion uses 24 bit delta-sigma converters with 128x oversampling. All inputs and outputs are precision balanced and RF protected using XLR connectors.

Each input allows you to control gain, delay and six filters (each of them your choice of parametric, low or high shelf). In addition to setting crossover frequencies, each output may be assigned to any one or a combination of inputs, allows you to program four parametric, low or high shelf filters, delay for time delay adjustments, output gain, reverse polarity and a compressor/limiter for speaker protection. All this in one rack space with XLR input and output connections.

The 3.6SP will store up to 30 total presets. A preset file takes a "snapshot" of all current settings and stores complete control data for all channels and all audio functions. The Protea 3.6SP is similar to the older Ashly Protea 3.24CL/CL-d. An existing preset file from the older *.pcc format can be loaded onto the new 3.6SP unit.

In all, the Protea 3.6SP is a powerful, easy to use processor for use in live sound or fixed installation applications combining precise audio processing and superior sound.

Ashly NE4250.70 4 Channel Network Enabled Power Amplifier 250 Watts

Connecting and controlling an amplifier for networked systems has now been simplified with Ashly’s NE Series amplifiers. Network Enabled (NE) amplifiers offer ease of use, setup and control using standard 10/100 Ethernet protocol and Protea NE Software. No special outboard control units are needed.

Four, four-channel models with output power at 250W are available to fill a wide variety of low impedance, 25V, 70V and 100V performance installation or constant voltage applications. Connecting and controlling an audio processor for networked systems has now been simplified with Ashly's NE-Series Protea ne24.24M digital signal processor.
